Toyota Battery Manufacturing, North Carolina (TBMNC), the company’s first automotive battery plant globally, will be the hub of developing and producing lithium-ion batteries for our expanding portfolio of electrified vehicles, and so much more. When TBMNC comes online in 2025, it will begin production with 100% renewable energy and have six battery production lines: four supporting Hybrid Electric Vehicles and two supporting Battery Electric Vehicles.
Currently under construction in Liberty, North Carolina, TBMNC is scheduled to begin production in 2025.
TBMNC will be Toyota’s first-ever battery plant in North America.
The plant will manufacture batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Toyota will invest $13.9 billion in the plant.

Toyota plans to roll out 30 BEV models globally by 2030 — five years after the North Carolina plant is scheduled to start operations.

TBMNC made its first community investment to enhance workforce readiness in North Carolina with donations totaling $1 million.
